Transcripts

Ordering transcripts online is easier than ever. Log into SF State Gateway to receive an official transcript the same day with our eTranscript option.

 

Direct access to Parchment ordering can be found HERE (available only to users who have not used Gateway). Otherwise, current and former students can order official transcripts through the SF State Gateway portal.  

  1. Log into SF State Gateway.
  2. When in Gateway, click the Academics menu link on the left.
  3. When in the Academics page, locate the Official Transcript Request header.
  4. Click the "Request Transcript" button.

Students who do not want to order online can request official transcripts by submitting a Transcript Request Form in person to the Registrar's One Stop counter. 

  1. Must have valid photo ID, either government issued or a SFSU ID.
  2. Only two transcripts can be printed per request, if more are needed they will be mailed.
  3. If authorizing a third party to pick up transcripts, third party must have the:
    • Signed written authorization from requesting student.
    • Valid photo ID from third party and copy of valid photo ID from requesting student.
    • Acceptable forms of ID include a valid driver's license, a valid state ID, or a valid passport.
  4. All financial obligations must be paid before the University can issue transcripts. 
  5. Official Transcripts are not available for first-time students until after completion of their first semester at SF State.

Students who attended Spring 1985 or before must mail or submit in person the Transcript Request Form to the Registrar's Office.  If exact dates of attendance are not known then please use the SF ID lookup application HERE to verify if an online record is available. 

  1. Mail-in instructions:
  • Fill out the Request form as much as possible, if SF ID is not known then include the last 4 digits of social security number.
  • Payment must be check or money order and payable to SAN FRANCISCO STATE UNIVERSITY.
  • Cost per transcript is $8.00.
  • Transcripts are processed within 5 - 10 business days upon receipt of request.
  • Faxed or emailed requests are not accepted. Rush or Overnight delivery options are not available.
  1. In-Person instructions:

Students admitted after Spring 1985 can access their unofficial transcripts through the Student Center.  The browser's pop-up blocker must be disabled to view, click here to find out how to disable pop-ups.

  2. Click the Academics link.
  3. Click the "Student Center" button.

  1. When in the Student Center, locate the "other academic..." drop down menu.
  2. Select "Transcript: View Unofficial" and click the double arrow button.

  1. Under Report Type select SF State Unofficial Transcript and click the "View Report" button.
  2. The unofficial transcript will open in a new window.
  • If a browser’s pop-up blocker was not disabled and the report did not open, simply select “View All Requested Reports” after the pop-up blocker is disabled

Student Center Verification

  1. Log into SF State Gateway.
  2. Click on the Academics link.
  3. Then click the Student Center button.
  4. When in the Student Center, locate the "other academic..." drop down menu.
  5. Select Enrollment Verification and click the double arrow sign to continue.

  1. When asked to select processing options, select Allow to Print from My Browser from the first drop-down box.
  2. Mark the check boxes for the academic information that should be included in the report.
  3. Select the term that should be included in the report or leave blank for all terms.
  4. Click the SUBMIT button to generate the Enrollment Verification.

  1. To print the results, click PRINTER FRIENDLY VERSION and print or save to a file.

The Registrar's Office will stamp and seal the form for free upon request by the student. The official stamp and seal will not be available until after the drop deadline of the current semester.

Employer & Third Party Request

Requests from employers/third parties (i.e. insurance agency) for verification of current enrollment or degrees are processed by the National Student Clearinghouse. Contact them at (703) 742-4200 or via the web at: http://www.nslc.org/ to get verification.

Notary Requests

Requests requiring official verification will be notarized at a cost of $10.00 per letter. Use the Notary Request form to make this request.

The Registrar's office does not provide an Apostille or Certification from the California Secretary of State; but, we do provide the needed material for SF State students and Alumni to obtain this service.  Please use the Notary Request form for further instrution and visit the California Secretary of State's site to find out how to get an Apostille or Certification, http://www.sos.ca.gov/notary/authentication/.
