Order an eTranscript to send and receive orders immediately, or, choose paper transcripts to send and receive using FedEx and Standard USPS shipping. Select an access option below to begin.

SF State Gateway Login

  1. Log into SF State Gateway
  2. Click the Academics menu item
  3. Under the Official Transcript Request header click the "Request Transcript" button

Parchment Login

  1. Go to SF State's Parchment Portal Login
  2. If new user select Create Account
  3. If returning user login using Parchment Credentials
    • Note: if you ordered at any point through SF State Gateway then you will not be able to use this login method. 

For transcript support about the below items, please call 833-261-3752:

  • Order not received (electronic or paper)
  • Issue entering recipient information
  • Issue entering payment
  • Payment questions
  • eTranscript issues (wrong recipient, password reset, order can't be accessed)
  • Don't remember Parchment Login

If requesting by MAIL, include:

  1. A completed Transcript Request Form
  2. Valid government issued photo ID
  3. A Check made out to San Francisco State University
    • Official Transcripts are not available for first-time students until after completion of their first semester at SF State.

If requesting IN PERSON, bring:

Registrar and One Stop Center in-person office hours are currently unavailable. You may still contact our office during our updated phone hours or through our contact form.

If requesting via a 3rd PARTY, include:

  1. A completed Transcript Request Form
  2. Written and signed authorization from the requesting student
  3. Valid government issued photo ID from BOTH the third party and requesting student
  4. Check made out to San Francisco State University
    • Official Transcripts are not available for first-time students until after completion of their first semester at SF State.

If you attended Spring 1985, or earlier, then you must mail or submit in person our Transcript Request Form to the Registrar's Office.  If exact dates of attendance are not known then please use SF State's ID Lookup Application HERE to verify if an online record is available.

Students admitted after Spring 1985 can access their unofficial transcripts through the Student Center.  The browser's pop-up blocker must be disabled to view, click here to find out how to disable pop-ups.

  1. Log into SF State Gateway
  2. Click the Academics link
  3. Click the "Student Center" button

  1. When in the Student Center, locate the "other academic..." drop down menu.
  2. Select "Transcript: View Unofficial" and click the double arrow button.

  1. Under Report Type select SF State Unofficial Transcript and click the "View Report" button.
  2. The unofficial transcript will open in a new window.
  • If a browser’s pop-up blocker was not disabled and the report did not open, simply select “View All Requested Reports” after the pop-up blocker is disabled

  1. Log into Gateway
  2. Click the Academics menu link
    • Click the Access Student Center button.
  3. Locate the other academic... drop down menu
    • Select Enrollment Verification

  1. When asked to select processing options, select:
    • Allow to Print from My Browser from the first drop-down box.
    • Mark the check boxes for the academic information that should be included in the report.
    • Select the term that should be included in the report, or leave blank for all terms.
  2. Click the SUBMIT button to generate the Enrollment Verification.

  1. To print the results, click PRINTER FRIENDLY VERSION and print or save to a file.

The Registrar's Office will stamp and seal the form for free upon request by the student. The official stamp and seal will not be available until after the drop deadline of the current semester.

Employer & Third Party Request

Verification requests for current enrollment, date of attendance, or degrees are processed by the National Student Clearinghouse.  To get started, use the below contact options.

Notary Requests

This letter is notarized by the Registrar's Office, payment must be received so the letter can be produced. Checks or money order only, and they must be made out to SFSU.  Requests requiring official verification will be notarized at a cost of $10.00 per letter. Use the Notary Request form to make this request.

The Registrar's office does not provide an Apostille or Certification from the California Secretary of State; but, we do provide the needed material for SF State students and Alumni to obtain this service.  Please use the Notary Request form for further instruction and visit the California Secretary of State's site to find out how to get an Apostille or Certification, www.sos.ca.gov/notary/authentication.

Once you have applied for graduation and you need to verify your status, you are able to confirm your status through your Student Center.
